The Problems With the Higgins Boats
Higgins boats can be penetrated by a high velocity machine gun round and many of the guns that the Germans had mounted on the beaches were obsolete 50 millimeter panzer main armaments. units were landing in a thoroughly disorganized way so they were literally on their own as soon as they hit the ramp and the intensity of the fire faced straight away certainly the first wave took out many of the leaders and many soldiers before they even got beyond the deep water how close did it come to being killed?
