Green River was the lead off single to Credence's third album and second of 1969 called Green River. By mid-August, the single was already in the top 10 in only its fourth week on the Hot 100. Propelled by a blistering swamp rock riff, Green River made the creek of John Fogarty's youth sound like it belonged in the deep south.
