The Hubble Constant
The velocity of the galaxies was found to steadily increase, rise in a linear fashion as astronomers peered ever deeper into space. A galaxy 10 million light years away travels twice as fast as a galaxy 5 million light years distant. Hubble also calculated the rate of that increase and became famous for this too.
