Gun Violence in the United States Has Declined 77% Since 1993
People point to Australia when they're making the argument you're making and say, well, Australia banned whatever banned rifles. But what happened is if you track the data, which again, we show in our book, cooperation and coercion, you do see a decline in homicides by gun, but you also see a corresponding increase in homicides by knife. So this is not evidence that somehow the gun ban did a good thing. It's not evidence that did a bad thing either. We should make the point that gun violence in the United States has declined 77% since 1993.
