NATO's answer is to step up support. The best way to end this war is to strengthen the Ukrainians on the battlefield further, so they can at some stage sit down and reach a solution. In the meantime, President Putin appears to be heading in the opposite direction. He has suggested he was mobilising 300,000 further troops this week.
