The Pygmalion Effect

The Pygmalion effect was coined by a study by Rosenthal and Jacobson in the 1960s. Once an employee is rated as a high performer, they see really large improvements in many areas. And we see that these high performers kind of become the apple of their manager's eye. They're given even more support than the others. But your good performers are not yet considered high performers. You need to be supporting people who haven't been able to reach their performance level.
