The New HIPAA Rules - What Do They Mean?
New Federal Rules took effect last week requiring health care organizations give patients unfettered access to their full health records available in a digital format. Supporters of the new rules say it offers needed transparency and gives patients more control over their own personal info. Some critics say patients may get test results and diagnoses online before a doctor can explain what it all means causing some unnecessary anxiety.
