DeAngelo's Sentencing Hearing Begins

On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, DeAngelo's sentencing hearing began. Over three days, survivors and relatives of the victims would finally be given the chance to have their stories heard via victim impact statements. Judge Bowman assured them there was no need to hurry, saying, Remember, you waited a long time for this. Many told the court of the long-lasting physical and emotional traumas they'd endured.
