Is There a Difference Between Individual and Social Belief Dynamics?

What happens in a single human's mind is actually quite similar to what happens in a group of humans. People want to reduce inconsistency and dissonence in their own belief system, but they also want to reduce dissonence at the social level. For some people might be more important ant located their own belief systems are very consistent. Other people will be a bit more inclined to agree with the social network and so on.
