Is There a Cliche in Children's Book Illustration?

I know in illustrators, at least when we teach children's book illustration, I say unless you have some kind of just amazingly original version of a monster under the bed, please don't illustrate amonster under the bed. Some theme of that, I've seen it hundreds of times. And then I see a lot of books about kids who won't comb their hair, which I feel like also is one of those like adult things that you deal with in the mornings and so people write books about that.
