They're playing the same riff exactly a fifth apart. The whole thing moves in parallel fifths which gives it this uncanny sound. That's actually a sound that massodon really likes. So start on the d phrygian scale. If you're a not very good piano player like me, it's just good to practise things in parallel like that with your left in your right hand.
