The Untrustworthy Airspeed Indicator
The captain initiated a discussion that forced the crew to rationalize the disparity of airspeed information. Bergenier's operations manual contains sections and letters titled flights with an untrustworthy airspeed indicator. While the flight continued to climb, the crew members did not discuss or demonstrate that these procedures were available. They never focused their attention on the enormous pitch attitude which developed.
