Aristotle's Solution to the Problem of the Election
In the 14th century it was generally accepted that there are present truths about future contingents. If there are no present truths, then God cannot know the future - admitting this would mean denying his omniscience. Peter Arial did stick to what he took to be Aristotle's solution here. Most philosophers of the period felt the need to explain how God can know what will happen without rendering future events necessary.
