Changing the Color of an Image Filter

With photographic styles, you are changing some of the effects to, say, like the armness or the contrast of an image. But it is applied with like a sliding scale, depending on ot so that it's not equally applied to the entire image. Different parts of the image will be affected by the photographic style in different ways. I still feel like its color confusing. It feels like theye are two similar things, and one is a slightly different mode. And they shouldn't be two separate features. Why then, i've not done a good job of explaining it.
