Dual Use Anthropology
The idea of dual use anthropology comes from biomedical sciences. It's the idea that whatever you're doing could be weaponized. A lot of this grows out of the Second World War, when anthropologists became very valuable at places like OSS and State Department. The state had different reasons for wanting this work done than a private foundation or Rockefeller Foundation.
