Introduction
Hoseah, chapter five ended with a description of the sickness of ephraim and judah. The hope of their deliverance was expressed in the final verse, i will return again to my place until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face. Some commentators see this more as an example of the sort of numerical formula that we encounter elsewhere in the old testament. Saint augustine is just one of many examples of christian theologians who heard this text as a prophecy of christ and his rection.
