The Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in People With High HDL Levels

For men, cardiac and other disease risks went up if their HDL levels were under 40 or over 80. For women, the risk climbed once HDL levels topped 100. It's a bit of a mystery why HDL should turn bad when it gets really high. Part of it is thought to be to sex hormone differences between men and women.
