Mao Zedong Part 2: The ‘Great Leap Forward’

Real Dictators

CHAPTER

The Great Leap Forward

Mao wanted three five year plans in a row that would bring China up to an economic level with Great Britain. Mao's plan is to modernise China's economy by buying ready-made factories and military technology from his Russian allies. He will pay for them with grain grown by the peasants of China. This program will be the biggest of its kind ever attempted on Earth. It will result in the deaths of millions and the displacement of millions more. There will be no turning back.
