The Paradox of Wearing a Single Linen Garment

The Essenes were a sect of Jews who only wore linen because it was richly pure fabric associated with the priesthood. They practiced extreme poverty of dress and would wear the same garment until it wore out. In Mark 5, John mentions that Jesus performs a healing at the porticos of Bethesda which he mentions surrounded by five porticos prior to 1950s. A lot of scholars thought this was completely fictitious because no such area in the vicinity had been known or discovered before 1950s.
