My Grandma Survived the Rikers Island Plane Crash

The Northeast Airlines Flight 823 crashed shortly after taking off from LaGuardia onto Rikers Island in 1957. The flight attendant on board was burned 99% of her body and told she would never see, hear, or walk again. But with a total all show you attitude, she pushed herself to recover. She eventually made a full recovery but had serious nerve damage that led to dialysis later in life.
