The Importance of Consent in Marriage
The church holds that the exchange of consent between spouses is indispensable. That's the element that makes the marriage in so many ways. The two become one flesh physically in the sexual embrace. So we recognize that at the altar, the sacrament of matrimony is ratified and made real.
