The Importance of Self-Selection in Dog Training
Eugene: Burnout is sort of sometimes it can sneak up on people and it can be confused with depression, anxiety, other psychiatric disorders. But in the case of burnout, my understanding is that one gets over worn out, tired, unable to take joy, to feel it all nourished or replenished by one's job. And I think a little bit under-recognized that dog trainers, there's I think self-selection for a strong empathy with dogs and dogs in our society are less valued. We suffer then what's called vicarious trauma. So if the dog is being harmed or their quality of life is poor, they're being badly trained or their lives are
