I honestly think like the soviet 19 twenties, in many ways, could be the golden age. Ecause you did have open debate between all these different ideas about how to rebuild society from the ground up. And i think really the tragedy of it all is this kind of drive to make a monolithic, one, true marxism. It's kind of tragicand another thing about these debates is that there was something at stake. There was a sense that society was theirs to shape.
