Introduction

The Greek language is the biggest influence on modern English outside of Latin. Ancient Greece existed long before the Anglo-Saxons arrived in Britain, and therefore early Anglo-Saxon English didn't really borrow directly from Greek. But after the Norman conquest of England in 1066, Latin and French words began to pour into English. Now this time, I want to explore the Indo-European roots of those ancient Greek-speaking people.
