What Did Sarah's Parents Do That Made Her Sick?

Sarah would have died if it wasn't for some stranger picking her up at the side of the road and rushing her to the emergency room. The scary side is wondering what her parents were doing that had made her so scared. I drive truck for a living, not long haul semis or anything but I'm still on the road a lot. An up here in Massachusetts it gets wicked bad during the winter sometimes. But honestly, at the end of the day, I think I'm better off, not knowing.
