There's now a bunch of this around. And obviously, we don't have all the information yet. But I think there's an explanation that is simultaneously less sinister that kind of fits the evidence. It seems very plausible that this was a team that had not played at very high levels of presidential politics before. So they didn't quite know what was okay and what wasn't. They treated Russia the way they treated all kinds of interest groups that didn't like Hillary Clinton during the campaign. Trump admires Putin for his consistent crush on strong authoritarian leaders.
