Hundreds of millions of tons of ammonia are still produced even today by the harbor Bosch process and a vast proportion of the Earth's population is fed by crops that simply wouldn't exist without it. It forestalled an impending food security crisis in providing the world with an essentially limitless supply of fertilizer.
