How to Say No in an Intimate Relationship

The first step in saying no is to make empathic connection with the other persons needs. The emphathic connection lets the other person know that we do care about their needs. We show that care by taking the time to stop and really connect with what's going on in them. Sometimes this can be just non verbally cmmunicated. They can see in our eyes that we are really with them. It might be said this way, i have a need right now to take a lot of the pressure off myself of things that people are wanting of me at work. If we're so tense about the fact that we are not wanting to do what the other person is asking us to do
