Who Was First in Flight?
The debate around who conducted the first ever heavier than air flight is deeply colored by national and state pride. Gustav weiskof was a german mechanic who later anglicized his name to gustav whitehead, but i wasn't able to talk about him during that series. Many americans can barely fathom the idea that anybody other than the right brothers could have invented the first aerplane. The states of ohio and north carolina argue btterly over which right brother's flight should be considered the first.
