Tribal Shaming and the Mother in Law Trope
There's a ana social anthropologist named mario martinez who calls it tribal shaming. He says there are three ways that groups go about bashing individuals or er groups to try to get them into line with their particular world view, their culture. And the three ways are abandonment, shame and betrayal. At an emotional level, those three penalties are unbearable to the human psyche. I just had a really funny example come to mind of a way that tribal shaming works that i have been noticing lately. The mother in law trope comes down to tribal shaming. There's so much conflict in the interesting dyou.
