Evolution Is Always Adaptive

Birds are nesting during march, which is not optimal for the species. In april they're likely to survive more easily because parents aren't competing with other birds. Evolution will thus drive the nesting time ever earlier and the population lower. If a further mutant gene then appears, causing nesting still earlier in march, the same process may be repeated. And it could cause the species, april nesting birds, to go extinct.
