I love the fact that I've always thought of it as Catherine of Aragon identifying with her parents conquering Grenada. It has this kind of subversive quality of actually carrying with it the sense of being multicultural. Well, you could say that that's a sign of their admiration for the culture as well, but also it was I suppose it was suggesting. Really, they had appropriated it so all that whole idea of their attitude to Grenada is a very ambiguous one. They could never erase the very fact of Grenada's Islamic identity.
