The Brave New World

Pain is like a jealous tyrant with a whip, commanding all our attention at every moment. It's hard to meditate or calculate when you're being whipped or burned over your nervous system. The modern west has not succeeded in conquering all pains by technology. Instead it has created an artificial protective bubble that is empty of most of the physical pains of life. But we found the bubble also empty of meaning and thus spiritually painful. Each decade we get a little closer to brave new world - pain of an absolutely meaningless life. Yes we recognize wisdom even among the evil empire. If this world was perfect it wouldn't be.
