The Importance of Metaphors in the Gospels

Gospel doesn't seem that interested in answering the question of, you know, what is in and where does it come from. Every time Matthew talks about why people sin and uses a metaphor, there's a kind of yes and no there. We have to be comfortable with a little bit of ambiguity on that because that's how stories work. That's how language works. And that provides the richness actually. Ultimately my interest is how does Matthew understand Jesus to be the Savior. How does Jesus save us?"
