Anna Hawkewelt was buried alive in 1884 after falling into a coma due to mosquito-borne encephalitis. Her fingernails were ground down to dust and bloody, the fabric lining of her coffin was shredded as she had woken up in her grave. Every year on the anniversary of her death, the statue will turn to face away from the town for letting it happen. But then people think kids are just assholes and turn the statue around. I would do that.
