Night reading continues after this very short break. Friday Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and today, all without seeing him. It is a long time to be alone. Still, it is better to be alone than unwelcome. So I made friends with the animals. They are all just charming,. and they have the kindest disposition in the politest ways. When you stand back on a rock in the midst of the furry expanse, it is so mottled and splashed and gay with color and frisked with stripes that you might think it was a lake, but really it isn't. And there are storms of sociable birds whirring around when she's not looking.
