You Know, I'm a History Professor and I've Done a LOT of Writing and I Love Teaching and Writing

By the end of high school you were quite interested in history. Was that kind of your goal, all along to enter academia or to do lectures? And I mean, that was the obvious path, you know, and I was perfectly happy to go to go down that path. But once I saw how dysfunctional the whole system was it wasn't for me to say well I guess I'm going to figure out something else. You know there's so much ass kissing at grad school. It's all kissing the butt of the next person who might get you a leg up.
