The story begins with a flashback where we understand that the famous opera singer Alice Oldquist was murdered in her own London home. And there she meets a man who is the accompanying pianist Gregory Anton, who is played by Charles Boye. Very quickly, she falls in love with and marries him. But then on his suggestion, very heavy suggestion, they decide to move back to Paula's old house in London. And there Gregory's behaviour suddenly starts to change.
