Laretta charleton says that rawness is what makes the song great. Charleton, a black woman, writes, but it's ok to love a song and to hate it at the same time. Lyrics bother me. But lyrics aren't the only thing it has to offer. It opens with a simple guitar riff before sliding into a mesmerizing groove. The impulse to dance is immediate. By june of 71, at the top of the billboy charts, the rolling stones provocations had given way to much gentler ministrations from an artist these sixties track record went back even further than the stones.
