The Importance of the Land
During the 20th century we went from 90 percent of the workforce in agriculture to whatever it is now six percent in agriculture. People found better options they got off the farm because they wanted to and that was a double-edged sword. The more agriculture was able to free people from the drudgery of the land and give them a cosmopolitan and more affluent experience the further and further they got away from reality.
