Engaging Children in Conversations Can Improve Language Skills

There's been a lot of research suggesting that what kids really need is interaction with parents or other adults in order to become proficient language users. So for example, around bath time, you might sort of just engage with your child to talk with them as much as you can and ask them questions. Then that's a way in which they can get sort of practice in playing linguistic charades,. Also you can actually keep them engaged while you're shopping as well. And the more we can engage with children, the better.
