What Is a City?
The 8th century was when the cities that are so familiar from the following stages of Greek history, such as Athens and Sparta, began to form. This wasn't solely a matter of numbers from monumental temples or defensive walls. It was much more about the institutions and the form that would define Greece. These cities became the engines of Greece's spectacular economic growth and its durable political backbone.
