In the book on Edward Said, you describe how he was drawn to writers whose values were in many cases quite contrary to his own. And it seems clear from your work that that's a perspective you've very much taken on board yourself. So for instance, you have chapters in the book on two writers in particular who would widely be considered pretty reactionary in their politics. The French novelist, Michelle Welbeck and Faroud Ajami - both of whom became something of an apologist for US imperialism in the Middle East.
