Is There a Difference Between Race and Kidney Function?

The Human Genome Project found that race has no genetic basis. Race isn't a biological category, it's a social and cultural category. There are lots of African Americans who have much lighter skin than many South Indians but may not identify as black. So what does this mean for how we measure kidney function?
