The Origins of the Godzilla Movie

The original Godzilla came out in 1954 when Japan was still under the United States occupation following World War II. Public discussion of this subject matter wasn't really possible, there was censorship. American audiences mostly found it to be like a silly goofy, campy monster movie. But I think that duality between those two things kind of really carries forward into sort of the rest of Godzilla's history.
