The Critique of the Enlightenment

The idea that you need a transcendent God or being to give us human values is not the only source of criticism. There are some much more present day issues and in fact contemporary philosophers are usually quite critical of the Enlightenment. So clearly today, Enlightenment values are threatened by extreme religious fanatics. I think the best answer here is to confront this view with the aspirations of the population at large.
