Dogs Have a Different Kind of Consciousness

Dogs lack some of obviously the cognitive comprehension that we have, especially about this kind of interior self. The main difference is that dogs have a very limited capacity to reflect on what they're doing. It's that reflective flexibility that we see very little sign of in animals that don't have language. And if it weren't for the fact that we're language users, we wouldn't grow up with minds like ours.
