The Human Brain Project

The European Union spent a billion euros over 10 years trying to simulate the human brain. The project was led by neurophysiologist Henry Markrum, who's an old friend of mine. He convinced the EU that he would build in 10 years, he was going to build a human brain. When they started out, they had these grand goals and then gradually began to realize how difficult the problem was.
