Winkiback was a dutch anatomist and physician. His first love was pathology, but he couldn't really discern different types of tissue under the microscope. He gravitated away from pathology and toward the black and white tracings of cardio vascular physiology. In 18 98, he noticed something culiar when he was examining their pulse. And it actually corresponds exactly with what we know now as the winki back pattern.
