The Left-Wing Parties in Japan During the Cold War

The two left-wing parties in Japan adopt a neutral stance towards the Soviet Union. The JSP's unarmed neutrality was limited to instances of military conflict. In normal times, the party did not take the stance of neutrality, but rather aligned itself with the Soviet block. It is also common to talk about the JSP's rejection of a more realistic position as a fatal mistake that doomed the party.
